1-Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan

 

 

Allah Rakha Wasai is a birth name of the Noor Jehan. She was born in a Muslim Family on 23 Sep 1926 in Kasur, Punjab. She has six children. Noor Jehan was a Pakistani singer, film actress, Music composer and film director. She sings a song in: Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Sindhi, Classical, Ghazal and Qawwali. Noor Jehan, better known by her honorific title Malika-e-Tarannum (the Queen of Melody) and she is one of the greatest actresses who work first in British India and then Pakistan.
Her career consists seven decades (1930s_1990s). Noor Jehan considered the first female Pakistani film director. Noor Jehan holds the record for having given voice to the large number of film songs in the history of Pakistani Cinema with the help of Ahmed Rushdi. About 10,000 songs, she recorded in various languages. In 1951, Noor Jehan starts her acting career with film “Chan Wey”. Noor Jehan made her debut exclusively as a playback singer in 1690 with the film “Salma”.
She received several awards for her extraordinary capabilities: President’s Award in 1965, Lux Style Award for lifetime achievement, Pride of performance Awards and Nigar Awards.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born on 13 Oct 1948 in Faisalabad. His birth name is Pervez Fateh Ali Khan. He has only one child. He was a Pakistani musician, singer, Ghazal, Classical, folk and Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours and he’s credited with introducing Qawwali music to an international audience. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is popularly known as “Shahenshah-e-Qawwali” meaning ‘The king of kings of Qawwali’.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s first publicly perform at the age of 16, at his father “Chelum” and khan became the head of the family Qawwali party in 1971. In 1980s, he was signed by Oriental Star Agencies in England. He went on to release movie scores & albums in Europe, India, Japan, Pakistan and the US. Nusrat Fateh Ali khan engaged in collaboration & Experiments with western Artist & toured, performing in over 40 countries. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has given the title of “USTAD”.

Iqbal Bano was born on 27 August 1935 in Delhi, India. Iqbal Bano was a highly acclaimed female Ghazal Singer from Pakistan. Iqbal Bano was best known for her semi-classical Urdu Ghazal songs and Classical thumris, Dadra, but she also sang easy-listening numbers in the 1950s films.
She starts singing a song on the radio in Delhi and become a ‘singing star’ by the 1950s. After she was invited by Radio Pakistan for classical performances on the radio. Her first concert took place in 1957, at the Lahore Arts Council. She’s become a cult icon when Bano roused a strong crowd of 50,000 people in Lahore.
Iqbal Bano renowned albums: Hum Dekhaingay, Nadeedha, Jaan E Mehfil and Ghazals.
For her protagonist services, Iqbal Bano received awards: Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
She was died on 21 April 2009 in Lahore.

4-Reshma

 

 

Reshma was born on 1947 in Rajasthan, British India. She was renowned as a Pakistani folk singer and also very popular in India. Reshma better known as Reshman. Reshma belong to a tribe which had converted to Islam. She has two children. Reshma did not receive any formal education and spent much of time in singing at the ‘mazarz’.
Reshma starts her career at the age of 12 when she was spotted singing Shahbaaz Qalandar’s and Saleem Gilani arranged for her to make a recording of “ Laal Meri Pat Rakhio” on Radio Pakistan in 1968. Reshma was a flower of the desert, a symbol of love, peace and music.
For her deniable performances, she received “ Sitara-i-Imtiaz”, “Pride of Performance” and Lux Style Unilever Chairman’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Her renowned albums: Rog Bura Ishq Da, Treasured Moments, 20 Sufi Legends, Pakhivaas and Best of Reshma.
She was died on 3 November 2013 in Lahore.

5-Allan Faqeer

 

 

 

Allan Faqerr was a Pakistani folk singer and he was one of the foremost exponents of Sufi music in Pakistan. He was born on 1932 Jamshoro in Pakistan. Allan Faqeer was belonged to Mangrasi tribe. He has five children. Allan Faqeer was particularly known for his ecstatic style marked with extreme devotional rhetoric and Sufi dance-singing. Allan was initially trained in singing with his father, he was singing Bhitai’s poetry. Allan starts his career in Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television Corporation. He sings a song mostly in Sindhi languages.
Allan Fakir received awards in appreciation of his services to folk culture: Pride of Performance in 1980, Shahbaz Award in 1987, Shah Latif Award in 1992 and Kandhkot Award in 1993.

He was died on 4 July 2000 in Karachi.

6-Pathanay Khan

 


Ghulam Muhammad, his real name of Pathanay Khan. Pathanay Khan was born on 1926 in Basti Tambu Wali. He was a great Seraiki folk singer from Pakistan and sings mostly Kafis or Ghazals in Seraiki, Sufi poetry Khwaja Ghulam Farid and Shah Hussain.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, invited him to Islamabad for a private performance in 1976. Pathanay Khan sang Jindarri lutti tain yaar sajan, Kadi mor maharan tay wal a watan”, Bhutto broke into tears. Bhutto says (three time) any wish, he said Bhutto Sahib, “Take care of the Poor”.

Naseebo Lal was born into a nomadic family in Tehsil Kaloor. Naseebo Lal belong to Arain family. She spent childhood in Chishtian and singing at weddings and family gatherings. Naseebo learned the art of singing initially from her mother. She became famous in other countries and Naseebo delivered a concert in Birmingham in 2012. She is a Pakistani singer, singing in Punjabi and Marwari languages. Mostly, Naseebo Lal sang songs of Madam Noor Jehan. Naseebo Lal is one of the greatest singers and she recorded more than 100 albums and sung unlimited songs. She debuted as a featured artist in Coke Studio’s Ninth Season. These two teenage sisters Sania & Muqaddas from Pakistan singing Justin Bieber’s Baby with their mother doing background beats on a pot, have become an internet sensation. Sania is 15 years old and Muqaddas 13 years old. These girls, who don’t speak English at all but learn this song they sounded out the words and transcribed them into Urdu and listened about 70 times. They come from a very poor family in Lahore & have not studied beyond primary school. Sania starts singing at the age of 5 and Muqaddas starts at the age of 4 with the help of the mother. They said, we love Justin Bieber’s song because they touch our heart.
Shahnaz Tabaydar, (mother) is also a committed Belieber and feels Justin Bieber is ‘like her son.’ “This song has been really lucky for us because we’ve now become famous!” They wish, is to meet with Justin Bieber and to sing with him.
